Hilarious! I love the last one! I can see myself trying to vacuum and this being the case! I’d never get anything cleaned up! LOL!

LOL. Tks for the advance warning Alice. I’ve finally broke down and made that much delayed appointment with the eye doctor. I’m pretty sure I know what the verdict will be, but tks to you I’ll be better prepared.

I got my first pair of bifocals at 19. I tripped over a curb crossing the street after leaving the optometrist’s office. I haven’t worn them since. And I’ve only been back to the optometrist’s twice since, a different one of course and my eyes are perfectly fine.

I had to wear bifocals in high school. It was a big joke, because I really did not need them.
My sister still makes fun of me today because of it. Nice, huh? 🙂

Interesting topic, Alice. I need to make an eye appoinment myself and am sure to need new glasses, but hopefully not bifocals. Here’s hoping you get used to yours soon!

Oh man, I have glasses I use to drive with and watch TV. Don’t know how I’d handle bifocals.

I hear you. I got glasses for the first time at 36. I pretty much thought life was over.
I also have an optometrist with a sense of humor. You know those awful drops they use? To dilate your eyes. He always laughs and says “This is your eyesight in one year. Scary isn’t it? *cackle”. Ugh.

I was told at my last visit, I’d need bifocals next time. I really hope I can afford the lazer surgery before then.

lol, I have trifocal progressives. I thought I didn’t need them when I got them and was only humoring my eye doctor, but now I can’t see without them. *sigh*
AAAAAANND!!! The bad thing is that progressives don’t fit in small frames. ugh.

UPDATE
I am fianlly used to my bifocals. More or less. A few days ago I tried to see something distant out of the bottom of the lenses and surprised myself when I remembered to look through the tops instead.
As to not being able to see what’s under my feet – I’m used to it now.

Yep, I know what you mean…this is my first day at work with my new bifocals…I totally relate to you on “Ihave yet to figure out what I can focus on with the left and right sides of the bottom of my lenses.” It doesn’t make sense…I believe there should be bifocals all the way across the bottom of our lenses, not just in the center!! I’ve found that the vision in the center of my glasses is the same, great in the middle, but blurry at either side! It makes no sense…I am going to give it a good try, but I may be going back to my single vision glasses, and just take them off to read & work!! Good luck!!

I’ve had these glasses for over a year now, and I’m still not happy with them. I’m not sure I’d go back to two pairs of glasses, but I’m thinking I should get a new prescription and go to someone else to have the glasses made.

My recommended laser eye surgeon in NYC is Dr Chynn at http://www.parkavenuelaser.com. Dr Chynn is a real expert and is a great source for people who want to be totally informed about the surgery.

hilarious! I only wore reading glasses for many years and then my far sight started going i guess. so i have these bifocals-progressives. they are sitting in their case. i was shocked when the dr told me the reading part was only a thumbprint of the bottom. if i had known that….. i agree with post 22. i am used to seeing everything when i am reading with the reading glasses. i am going ot have a hard time with glasses that i have to keep moving my head to see or read. the blurriness on the sides is wierd. oh well.
