How do you email to someone you only know through their blog?

So far I’ve only gone looking for an email link from a blog in two cases, where I really should be able to figure the email out if I go looking in my ancient email folders.  Still, it seems people expect you to be able to contact them, but don’t make the info easy to find.  Is there a secret handshake I don’t know about?

  1. BTW, Pam, your blog won’t let me leave a comment.

  2. Comment and ask the person to email you. The About Me page on a blog, or look at the sidebars. Search the blog with “email.”

If it’s Blogger, try looking at the person’s profile.

And you can edit your post even after it’s been posted–Pam’s more likely to see it that way.

  5. I think that a lot of people get so paranoid about spam that they make it impossible to email them. I’ve got a link on my website that people can use to email me, and the link to my site on my blog.

  6. Thanks for the how-to, May. I’ve plastered mine all over the place and still my mother couldn’t find me. Go figure.

Sara, I see you made it over to FanLit. Pretty swank, eh?

Pam, I posted just fine now. Whatever it was you got it fixed.

  7. I made a separate page in my blog called “Contact” — it’s not out on the front page so it’s less likely to attract the spam robots, but should hopefully be easily findable.

It’s always the question of how much info to put out there, isn’t it?

  8. How do people do that. I got a legitimate email from someone through my blog one day…but I do not know how she knew my email address. Hmm…off to play to try and figure it out.

  9. Marg, once you figure it out, let me know. It’s not like I hide my email, but I’ve kind of wondered a few times.

As to the spam bots, so far they have been all right. I’ve had more come to me in other accounts simply from having gone surfing.

  10. Caro, I put mine on my “about” page. I was surprised the wordpress didn’t automatically provide me with a button for it.

  11. I changed an option on my profile page and now there is an email me button on my about page, but still doesn’t tell me how they did it before! Oh well!
