Deathly Hallows

Filed under: What Are You Reading? — aliceaudrey @ 10:48 am

I just finished reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.  Wouldn’t you know, I want to talk about it and everybody else has already done their talking!

Darn.  Now I’ll have to go back through my blogroll’s old posts and see if I can figure out who might still want to talk.

  1. What do you want to talk about?

I think the epilogue sucked. And I think Harry should have died for real–I know it’s a kids’ book and I may stuff a copy of Hallows down the throat of the next person who tells me that (kidding!).

I’m tired of how she pulled the same tricks over again–all his mentors die.

And I think that she shouldn’t have let us/Harry see the scene of Snape begging Dumbledore over Lily and later on Harry. It made what Snape did seem so…worthless.

  2. Except for the number of characters in the epilogue causing me confusion I had no problem with it. I was disapointed by the handling of Snape. It could have been done much more dramatically, and I couldn’t believe Harry would just wander off without attempting to get Nagini.

  3. I wasn’t confused, but I thought it was just ugh.

    Snape. Yup. Disappointing. Utterly disappointing.

Forgotten about the Nagini thing. And Ron suddenly being able to speak Parseltongue.

  4. Alice, I would be glad to talk “Harry” anytime. She had a pretty impossible job with this last book, and I was planning on hating it big-time, so overall I was really pleased.

I like epilogues, and enjoyed hers, except that it was a little too ‘cutsey’ compared with everything else. The biggest problem, in my opionion, is that there should have been another book, and then the last one. There was too much to wrap up for just one more.

The Weasley death made me a little ill…and the Hedwig death was just abrupt.
