Got my results back.  Sigh.  Maybe next year.

Did you enter?  If so, how did you do?

  1. I didn’t enter – had no manuscript last year, but I’ll probably be entering two next year. I must say, the GH scoring system seems rather vague. I’m looking forward to getting some actual feedback in the other contests I’ve entered.

  2. I didn’t enter, but I’ll probably be there next year, too.

The Beaumonde has been having a discussion about GH scores. Don’t let them get you down. Apparently, one of the GH finalists from last year had two entries. One finaled. The other got 2s and 3s.

Do we really think the manuscripts were that different? Nope. It’s all about the luck of the draw.

Get feedback. Enter next year. Kick their butts. 🙂

  5. Sorry, Alice, that you didn’t do as well as you wanted. Did you get any useful comments?

  6. Sorry to hear that Alice. But on the other hand, you never know how it might have done had it had other judges. Don’t get discouraged!

  7. Oh well. You win some, you lose some. I have a friend whose book regularly won contests that got all 3’s in the Golden Heart. At least my lowest score was 5.
